The story as I have it on this rare button is they were made sometime around the start of the NCAA tournament in 1975. Arguably an even better team than the perfect 76’ Hoosiers, it was logical to think Indiana would march into the Final Four in held in San Diego. Not sure if there is any truth to this, but my understanding is Coach Knight somehow got wind of these pins and the General ordered a Code Red to have them collected and destroyed. Personally, if true, I don’t blame him for wanting any of that bad superstitious mojo hanging around. As both luck and (and I guess fate) would have it, Indiana lost to Kentucky in the Mideast Regional final 92-90.
