Knight Time Rewind: December 3, 1960
ON THIS DAY: Today marks the first game held at Indiana’s “New Fieldhouse” on December 3, 1960. 9,236 fans attended the game, witnessing Indiana defeat the visiting Sycamores of Indiana State 80-53. Walt Bellamy would lead the Hoosiers in scoring with 20 points, with Tom Bolyard and Jimmy Rayl chipping in 14 and 12 in their highly anticipated sophomore debut, respectively. The rare ticket stub pictured here is from the first game played in the new gym.

After a generous donation in the 1990s to support a major renovation of the venue, the building was renamed what it’s now commonly known as: The Gladstein Fieldhouse.
