It’s pretty uncommon to find autographs of players from this era — and also uncommon to find press photos from the same time period.

Signed by all of the players and Coach Knight, with one exception — Tracy Foster. He announced his intent to transfer on January 11, 1984 due to a lack of playing time. Coach Knight was transparent with him that his minutes likely wouldn’t increase the following season. He ended up transferring to UAB and ended up getting drafted by the Philadelphia 76’ers in the 6th round.
This IU team would finish 22-9 with a third place finish in the Big Ten…and would go on to earn a 4-seed and an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA tournament, bowing out to 7-seed Virginia in a close one, 50-48. The photo above was signed by Coach Knight, Courtney Witte, Daryl Thomas, Winston Morgan, Uwe Blab, Mike Giomi, Todd Meier, Marty Simmons, Dan Dakich, Steve Alford, Cam Cameron, Chuck Franz, and Stew Robinson.

Item: Indiana All-Stars vs Kentucky All College Seniors Program (Jeffersonville Fieldhouse; March 31, 1958)
As a child, I had occasionally played basketball in this very fieldhouse, which is commonly referred to as the Nachand Fieldhouse today. Given the parallel, I certainly wanted to have this piece in my collection.
This program is signed by a few IU players from the 1950s, including Pete Obremsky, Archie Dees, Sam Gee, and Ray Ball. It’s also by a gentleman by the name of Bobby Potter, who was a former Jeffersonville High School and University of Louisville basketball alum.

This is one of my favorite pieces in my collection! What more could I ask for in a collector’s piece — the iconic photo of “The Shot”, signed by Coach Knight, and plays a radio recording of Don Fischer’s color commentary. I play this regularly when I walk downstairs to my basement and it never gets old.
