Transfer Portal News: TGA Lands 5-star Class
INDIANA (AP) — The General was relentless on the recruiting trail this summer, landing a number of top-ranked transfer portal prospects with the goal of building a talented, deep, championship-level roster for the upcoming 2024-25 season. There’s little doubt the expletives were few and far between considering the incredible success in this offseason’s transfer portal period. Reports are coming out suggesting the newcomers of The General’s Assembly seem to have great chemistry with the returning team members looking ahead to the unofficial start of this season with an exhibition on Sunday.
A significant NIL investment was made to bring in game-worn 2012-2013 Yogi Ferrell jersey to captain the team and run point, the signature addition to this portal class. The General also inked first edition “Indiana Basketball” signed by Branch McCracken out of Monrovia, Indiana, to play one of the wings. The combination of these two additions may single-handedly make this a top ranked portal class alone. In the middle, TGA also picked up a commitment from 54” x 36” big man 1956-57 Big Ten Champion portrait out of Bloomington, who will occupy a lot of space in the paint on the wall this upcoming season. A backup point guard and off-the-ball shooter, TGA signed 2001-02 Tom Coverdale Game Worn Shooting Shirt, a gritty, hard-nosed player with demonstrated leadership abilities. Off the ball, the team made a smart choice in adding some depth at the guard position by picking up 1987 NCAA Championship signed and PSA-authenticated photo, an athletic and versatile player capable of knocking down the shot when called upon. At the other wing position, another stellar transfer was secured with 1987 NCAA Championship plaque out of New Albany, a skilled player posing a 3-dimensional threat.
Depth was added at all positions, allowing a second unit to come in and wear down an opponent. At small forward, TGA picked up a late cycle commitment from Orrville, Ohio native 1971-72 Indiana Basketball Media Guide. A rare combination of skill and basketball acumen, this addition ensures a consecutive streak of more than 50 media guides. Down low, commemorative 1976 NCAA Championship fraternity paddle will bang inside with any big in the country. The squad will also feature a new set of twins like the Arsdale’s, 1974-75 and 1987 paint balls, the latter of which is fully signed by the entire team. Another experienced guard, 1990-91 fully team signed calendar will bring veteran leadership to the squad. Another pair of guards capable of running point or playing off the ball, 1992-93 fully team signed basketball (with Knight sig) and 1993-94 team signed basketball (also with Knight sig) will no doubt provide valuable minutes off the bench.
Counting the days to see this team hit the floor. Let’s go, Hoosiers!
