Knight Time Rewind: December 31, 2005

ON THIS DAY: On this day in 2005, 6’-5” sophomore Robert Vaden goes a perfect 6-6 from distance on the road against Ball State, marking the most makes from three without a miss in a single game in IU history and tying a Big Ten record. Vaden would go 8-11 from the field in tying a career high 22 points to go along with 6 assists in leading the 17th-ranked Hoosiers to an 80-56 rout of the Cardinals.

In the prior game against Butler, Vaden would go a perfect 4-4 from three. Between the two games, he made a 10-10 from deep, which also would establish another school record.

The previous best was 5-5, a feat accomplished twice: by Keith Smart against Ohio State on March 5, 1987 and Kyle Hornsby against Michigan on February 17, 2002.

The ball featured here is from the 2005-06 season, which includes Vaden’s signature. Considering he transferred after the 2006 season to UAB, the number of things he signed was rather limited.

Happy New Year…and go IU!
