Knight Time Rewind: January 6, 1993
On this day in 1993, Indiana University coach Bob Knight earns his 600th career coaching victory by defeating the visiting Iowa Hawkeyes 75-67. At 52 years old, he becomes the youngest coach in history to achieve the feat. This victory would also mark the beginning of 13 straight Big Ten wins to start Big Ten conference play and an eventual outright Championship. Knight would end up skipping the post-game presser, sending in someone to tell the media he needed to prepare for a hunting trip the following day. Go Hoosiers!
Knight Time Rewind: January 30, 1989
On this day in January 1989, the Indiana University Hoosiers squared off against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Bloomington’s Assembly Hall. Coming off of a loss against Illinois, and some double practice days from Coach Knight, the Hoosiers went on the offsensive, prevailing 104-89 and highlighted by Todd Jadlow’s game high 32 points. This significance of the game program and ticket stub memorabilia featured here is Jadlow tied Ted Kitchel’s Indiana record of 18 straight free throws made in a game (set in 1981), going 18-19 from the line along with a perfect 7-7 from the field. Not too shabby! Go IU!
600…and counting!
